I finally, finally ate at one of those “gourmet, trendy” food trucks! I follow all of the local San Diego (and a few LA & NY) ones on Twitter. Theres even a dedicated twitter and facebook page that compiles all their locations daily – @SDFoodTrucks. I check their locations to see which one is close by my work that I might be able to get out and try. Inevitably I always seem to either forget or get caught up in work. So, finally, this past week, I was able to check one out.
As luck would have it, one happened to be by my house and it was a gorgeous day out. So, I decided to take the walk over (a little over 1.5 miles). They were stationed in an area that was more of a business park, servicing, obviously, business people. Then there was me, cut off jeans, hair in a ponytail, sans make-up and my ray-bans (I was enjoying a relaxing day). I roll up to the MIHO truck and get in line. Of course I reviewed their menu online prior to setting out and I couldn’t decide between the burger and the carnitas tacos. Both sounded tasty. I wish I had another person with me because then we could get one of each and share. I opted for the burger, fries and cookie. That would be the Burger Bourguignon, Belgium Style Fries and Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookie to be exact. The cookie was a last minute decision. Peer pressure – everyone was ordering one in front of me and they were almost out. I got the second to the last one!
Since they were parked in a business area with everyone ordering and returning to their offices, there was no place to eat near by. So I hoofed it back closer to my house where there is a nice little park. Did I mention it was a gorgeous day? Sunny, 72 degrees, just perfect. I sat on a bench in the park and ate my yummy burger and fries. Again, such a beautiful day. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience – the relaxing day & good food.
Now for the food:
Burger: caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, spinach, parmesan crisp on a brioche bun. The meat itself was good, grass fed, but just not quite cooked consistently. Slightly pink, but only in one tiny little area. Secondly, while the brioche bun was tasty, it was a lot of bun for the burger and a little on the dry side. Would have like more of the demi glace to soak into the bun. Loved the caramelized onions and that the bun was toasted.
Belgium Fires in Belgium! They just call them fries 😉
Fries: Tasty. Could have been crisper. But I know I walked a few blocks prior to eating them, so they may have been. Side comment: Not quite like the Belgium Fries I actually had in Belgium this past May. Loved the homemade ketchup. Sweet and Spicy.
Cookie: Good, soft, chewy chocolate chip cookie. The bacon gives it a little something salty and smoky. Not over done.
Overall: Quite Tasty. I would definitely go back. Thanks to the friendly and cute boys in the MIHO Truck!

P.S. – All the photos were taken with my new iPhone 4S. Not bad. Nice upgrade on the camera.
